Our Inspiration

Christ, the teacher par excellence, is our Supreme Guru and Guiding Light. The school is dedicated to Him. St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous Catholic religious congregation, is our source of inspiration. The seminal influence of his vision and dreams permeates our activities to the day.

Born at Kainakary in Alappuzha Dist. Kerala on 10th February, 1805, St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a renowned scholar, spiritual leader and social reformer, left indelible marks on the minds and history of the people of Kerala. Establishing a religious congregation each for men and women (CMI & CMC), schools for the socially disadvantaged and the first private printing press at Mannanam, this great visionary set in motion the wheels of transformation in the religious and social order of our mother land. He is also known for his contributions both in poetry and prose, spiritual retreats and charismatic leadership. He was called to eternal rest on 3rd January, 1871 at Koonammavu, Kochi, and his mortal remains were later transferred to St. Joseph's Monastery Church, Mannanam.

The Catholic Church duly recognized his outstanding life of religious as well as social commitment, when the Holy Pope John Paul II declared him "Blessed" on 8th February 1986, at Kottayam, Kerala. Pope Francis pronounced this great master a "Saint" on 23rd November, 2014, at St Peter's Square, Vatican. Christ Central School proudly shares his great legacy of spiritual, literary and social commitment handed down to generations by the CMI congregation and seeks to realize his ideals through quality and value based education.
